Is this compatible with Excel?
Yes. It is an .xlsx workbook built for Microsoft Excel.
Mac and Windows?
Yes. The product files were prepared for Excel workbooks on Mac and Windows. Use a current Excel version for best formula support.
Can I modify categories?
Yes. Categories live in the Lists worksheet so you can adapt the system without tearing apart the formulas.
Is this a backpacking gear list or a load-planning system?
It can produce a trip-specific gear list, but the product is a system: gear inventory, trip-specific selection, food and fuel variables, consumables, and pack-weight calculations in one workbook.
Does it account for food, fuel, and consumables?
Yes. The Settings worksheet is built for trip variables like days, consumables, and planning assumptions, so the load summary reflects more than just static gear weight.
Does it calculate pack weight or base weight?
It calculates packed load from the gear you select and the planning variables you enter. You can use the inventory, categories, and summary view to understand real pack weight and compare load decisions before leaving.
